I hate that the phrase “restored my faith in humanity” exists. It makes it seem like the majority of people in the world are bad people; you use the cons to describe the entirety of the thing.
When you speak like this to describe good things people have done, you communicate that people are inherently bad, that it’s surprising that someone would ever do something to help another person. And I feel like that attitude only continues the idea that regular people aren’t the ones who do fantastic things. And that’s horrible because they are the only ones who do fantastic things, that is what humanity is.
When you take the perspective of the popular news stations, and sensationalise the bad things and only give occasional credit to the good things, you screw up how people perceive each other; you make it so people only see the shitty side of people, so that they “lose their faith in humanity”.
The whole redundancy of using a phrase to compliment part of humanity that also berates the rest of it is just ridiculous.
I am one episode away from being caught up on Doctor Who, and do you know what that means?
I have spent over 100 hours watching this god damn show.
